Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Therapy

This service offers soft-tissue mobilization techniques appropriate for facilitation of improved range of motion of the upper extremities and resolution of soft tissue adhesions and scarring. Our trained therapist addresses Axillary Web Syndrome (cording), postural and scapular dysfunction as well as upper-quadrant soft-tissue changes following breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy. Patients will be provided education on possible risk of lymphedema, on self-care, infection-prevention and benefits of appropriate and safe exercise routine to promote mobility and reduce chance for cancer recurring. Currently treated patients for cancer can benefit from improvement of range of motion after surgery to be able to get into the right position for radiation part of their treatment. Soft-tissue mobilization and manual lymph drainage after surgery can improve healing, reduce discomforts from cording formation, scar and other adhesions. This approach can be also helpful later after the cancer treatment completion if the symptoms are still present and limiting.

Lymphedema Therapy

This is a therapy for patients diagnosed with primary (born with) or secondary lymphedema (degeneration of lymphatic vessels, removal of or damage to lymph nodes, multifactorial lymphedema, obesity lymphedema, infection as filariasis etc.)
Lymphedema is a chronic disease that makes the lymphatic system dysfunctional and causes mild to severe swelling, limited range of motion, skin changes, tissue fibrosis. This progressive condition needs lifetime maintenance as there is no cure for lymphedema. The main goals include reducing risk of severe skin infection, improving lymphedema symptoms (edema volume, physical discomfort, heaviness, limited mobility and difficulty to fit into regular-sized clothes and shoes) and patient self-care education.

Our Certified Lymphedema Therapist uses Manual Lymph Drainage, Complete Decongestive Therapy if needed, including short-stretch compression bandaging, skin and nail care education, patient-appropriate exercises, guidance and measuring for custom-made compression garments.

One session of Lymphedema Treatment is set for 75 minutes. Most hospitals don’t have the opportunity to spent enough time with patient for this treatment. However sufficient amount of time per visit along with their appropriate frequency lead to faster lymphedema reduction in overall fewer sessions.

Currently we are unable to serve clients with genital lymphedema and open wounds.

Lymphedema Therapy Rates:

$165 - 60 minutes
$205 - 75 minutes

Important: If the swelling has had a very quick onset, you are experiencing pain, redness, heat on touch, and/or you travelled recently by a plane, seek a medical doctor immediately without any delay.
